A/Prof. Jan Seidel: Ferroelectric Nanostructures - Domain walls in motion

Domain walls are tiny nano-objects that can exhibit extraordinary material properties different from the bulk material they form in. They are very small, of the order of 1nm in ferroelectrics.

It has now been shown that ferroelectric domain walls can be controllably moved at the nanoscale. This opens up possibilities for using these domain walls as nanoelectronic components and nanoscale transport channels.
