"Ni-Re diffusion barrier in Ni-Al coating to resist CO2 corrosion at high temperature"

CO2-rich gas is very corrosive to heat-resisting Fe-base alloys at high temperature. Coating is an effective way to protect these alloys. However, the extensive interdiffusion between the coating and the alloy substrate deteriorates the protection. This paper investigated Ni-Re electroplated interlayer as a diffusion barrier to inhibit the interdiffusion. The results showed a superior performance of the Ni-Al/Ni-Re coating, compared with the Ni-Al coating on CO2 corrosion at 650C.
