I Got 99 Samples With A Phase Boundary In One

The search for a lead-free piezoelectric material has been based around locating compositions that occur at phase boundaries.  At these phase boundaries high piezoelectric properties are achieved and locating them in ternary systems is extremely difficult and time consuming. Using a combinatorial method and synchrotron x-ray diffraction, we rapidly mapped out the phase boundaries in the ternary system(Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3)x(BaTiO3)y(SrTiO3)1‒x‒y (BNT-BT-ST).  Compositions in this system have been considered for lead-free piezoelectric devices and this information can be used for future developments.
