The UNSW Engineering World Health Summer Institute Cambodia 2017

Would you like to spend your summer in Cambodia repairing medical equipment that saves lives? You can make an immediate impact in communities that need it most. 
 
As part of the Summer Institute you will receive training and hands-on experience working in hospitals and clinics with very few resources. You will be completely immersed in a different culture, living with local families, working alongside doctors and nurses, and learning a new language.
 
 
The program is designed in three blocks, each lasting four weeks, as follows:
  1. Block 1: Fundamentals of Clinical Engineering (Sydney)
  2. Block 2: Language and further technical training (Phnom Penh)
  3. Block 3: In-hospital experience (throughout Cambodia)

Key facts:

  • Counts for 50 days of industrial training
  • OS-HELP loans* are available (up to $7,500)
  • Competitive scholarships* are available (up to $3,000)
  • Open to all engineering disciplines and all year levels 
* Domestic students only

What happens after the application closing date? We will process the applications as quickly as possible, letting you know about the status of your application (interview or no interview) in mid-July. At this stage, we anticipate conducting interviews in week one of semester two.
