MSE Postgraduate Student Society
PGSOC is the social arm of the School's postgrad community. It aims to encourage communication among PG students and improve the quality of student life in the School.
Research students need a holistic and active university life. PGSOC aims to achieve this through organising activities ranging from competitions to informal and formal catch-ups. Now in its third year, PGSOC also works on student issues and suggestions and supports initiatives that are beneficial to the School. We act as a bridge between the School and postgrad students.
You can contact PGSOC via email at MaterialsPGSOC@unsw.edu.au.

Our Postgraduate Student Guides will help you settle in to life at UNSW.
One of our main events is the Postgraduate Presentation Competition. This is an excellent opportunity for postgrad students to expose their work to the larger School community, as well as to sharpen up their presentation and communication skills. In 2013, we saw projects expertly presented from across the multiple research areas of the School. Eager participants came from all year levels and various research groups. The emergent winner was Zhemi Xu.
This year we are looking forward to more student participation and hope to build meaningful social interaction between cohorts. Some of the official activities propopsed for the coming year are the PG Poster Competition and a new instalment of the PG Presentation Competition.
We wish all in our postgraduate community success in their respective research and look forward to further developing a sense of community in our student group.
