The Faculty of Science at UNSW is offering a number of highly competitive summer research scholarships to currently enrolled undergraduate students who are considering to continue their studies at postgraduate research level in the future.
This Scheme will enable students to gain valuable research experience. Students will be supervised by our international team of academics at state of the art research facilities at UNSW or through our industrial partners.
Each Scholarship is valued at $3,800 for a 6 week research project. To be eligible, applicants must be Australian/New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents.
Applicants should be currently enrolled at a university in the penultimate (second last) year of an undergraduate program in science or a related discipline. Students who were previously awarded a similar type of scholarship from the Faculty or UNSW are not eligible.
The School of Materials Science and Engineering is offering vacation scholarships with the following topics (click on the name of the academic staff member to view their contact information):
- High efficiency perovskite solar cell materials - Dr Jan Seidel
- Computational high-throughput screening of ferroelectric superlattices for piezoelectric and supercapacitor applications - Dr Claudio Cazorla
- Increasing the precipitation potential in Fe-Cu alloys by pre-deformation - Dr Sophie Primig
- Semiconductor nanostructures synthesised by pulsed laser deposition for high-efficiency hydrogen production - Dr Judy Hart
Applications close on 11 September 2015.
It is anticipated that applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application within three weeks of the closing date.
