Significant School Successes with Australian-India Strategic Research Fund

Two of the School’s academics, Dr Sri Bandyopadhyay and Dr Nagarajan Valanoor, have been successful in obtaining research support from the Australian-India Strategic Research Fund run by DEST, for two projects. These collaborative research projects will strengthen the School’s already strong links with high-quality Indian researchers, bringing together the top materials science and engineering researchers in two countries.

Under the Targeted Allocations scheme, Sri Bandyopadhyay's proposal "A three-year top down collaborative novel research proposal on NANOCOMPOSITES for electronics, light yet strong engineering applications, coatings, fuel cell and clean energy use", has received funding for collaboration with the Department of Surface Physics at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics. Prof Aibing Yu is a co-investigator.

Furthermore, Nagarajan Valanoor's proposal "Hybrid magnetoelectronic nanostructures; optimising interface coupling for enhanced functionality" , together with the National Chemical Laboratories based in Pune, has been funded through the Science and Technology Fund. Dr Sean Li is also a significant contributor to this proposal.

Very well done to Bando and Nagy.
