Cochlear Limited, a committed industry partner of UNSW Australia, have offered scholarships to two Materials Science and Engineering students - Jonathan Lee (fifth year) and Siddharth Doshi (third year) are both studying a BE (Materials Science & Engineering) / M.Biomedical Engineering.

Based in Sydney, Cochlear pioneered and is the global leader in the research, development, manufacture and marketing of implantable hearing solutions. Today Cochlear has a 70% share of the global market, employs more than 2000 people worldwide, operates directly in over 20 countries and sells in over 100 countries. Over 200,000 people across more than 100 countries now experience hearing as a recipient of a Cochlear hearing solution.

Technological innovation remains a key driver, with each generation of cochlear implant system providing increased benefits to recipients and the healthcare workers supporting them. Cochlear invests heavily in research and development to stay at the forefront of its industry and to support growth plans.

The successful students will spend two days per week at Cochlear headquarters, from June to December 2014, during which time they will be involved in two projects:

  • Implant reliability and moisture
  • Implant impact testing

Congratulations to Siddharth and Jonathan on this fantastic opportunity!
