Dr Farshid Pahlevani named in the list of Australia’s Most Innovative Engineers.

Dr Farshid Pahlevani have been recognised in the list of Australia’s Most Innovative Engineers for 2020. 

The Australia's Most Innovative Engineers is an annual program run by create magazine. It is categorised into 10 categories and Dr Pahlevani has been selected for the Manufacturing & Automation category. Dr Pahlevani has been recognised for his work in developing a world-first, single-step recycling process that transforms steelmaking slag and coffee waste into a sustainable source of agricultural phosphorus.

The Judge's comments:“The idea is very creative in bringing together completely different waste streams to deliver a useful product. This is an excellent example of how using innovation can reduce waste and produce a valuable product.” Read Full Story Here.

"I am very excited and happy about this achievement. I have been working on recovering of phosphorus from steel making slag since I was in Japan and now I am very happy to see it flourish and received the recognition. I have to thank Scientia Professor Veena Sahajwalla for all her kind help and support and guidance also thank my supervisors in Japan Professor Kitamura and Professor Sasaki for their support" Dr Pahlevani stated. 

 
 
"Farshid is a self-motivated researcher with a great vision and extensive experience in industry engagement. His contribution in translating the novel science from lab to industry application is of great value. I am very happy to see that his effort has been recognised and wish him more success in coming years" Professor Sahajwalla stated. 
 
Dr Pahlevani's research interest is to creating innovative solutions for using waste as resources and working closely with manufacturing industry to implementing these solutions and creating impact and he is currently teaching MATS6111 - Processes in Materials Engineering.
