Materials Australia NSW Branch - Student Presentations event

13 December 2018

On Wednesday 5th December, Materials Australia NSW ran its annual student presentation awards event at UNSW. This year, we had 6 presentations and 5 posters presented by hand-picked undergraduate and coursework students from UNSW, USyd and UoW.

Similar to last year, our own students did incredibly well. Here are the winners:

Talks:
1st: Mia Maric (UNSW): The effect of cold-rolling and welding on the molten salt corrosion resistance of 316L stainless steel
2nd: William John Davids (USyd): An investigation into the short-range order in bulk metallic glass using atom probe microscopy
3rd: Martin Pacak (UNSW): Development of Au-based bulk metallic glasses for aesthetic applications

Posters:
1st: Michelle Yeoh (UNSW): Novel K-alkali activated geopolymers
2nd: Hafsah Indrianita Pratiwi (UNSW): Advanced thermos-mechanical processing of modern HSLA steels
3rd: Bryan Lim (USyd): Strain mediated band gap engineering of bent semiconductor nanowires from first principles

Congrats to our brilliant students (and their supervisors)!
