Prof Mark Hoffman, Head of School, appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor Research

Professor Mark Hoffman, Head of School, has been appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor Research. In making the announcement the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fred Hilmer, noted that “Mark is a highly successful researcher and teacher and has been Head of the School of Materials Science and Engineering for the past five years. For three years he has also been Associate Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Science.  In that role he has been instrumental in creating strategies that raised the number of research fellowships, increased international engagement and strengthened industry links for the University.” The Dean of Science, Professor Merlin Crossley also said “Mark has been highly successful, as a researcher and teacher, as Head of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and as Associate Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Science. The work he has done has been instrumental in initiating the plans for a new building for his School and associated disciplines. It has been a great pleasure working with Mark. UNSW is very fortunate to have such a strong and dedicated researcher serving the university in this position.”

Professor Hoffman will commence his new position on 3 December 2012.
