Student successes with conference prizes
A number of School research students were awarded prizes at the recent annual meeting of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Design in Light Metals. The highlight was Jake Cao, winning the Best Paper Award for 2012; his co-authors included Kevin Laws and Michael Ferry.
Other winners included Yi Cao, who was a runner-up for the Best Poster Award and also Karl Shamlaye and Sayedeh Emami Khansari who were runners-up for the Best Pictures with scientific images form their research. Their prizes were presented by Professor Aidan Byrne, CEO of the Australian Research Council.
Furthermore, at the 8th Annual Conference of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Functional Nanomaterials which was held at UNSW last week, Mr. Yusuf Valentino Kaneti from the SIMPAS group won the Best Student Poster Award at Advances in Functional Nanomaterials.
Well done to all these research students. It reflects well on the high standard of your work.
