Successful Linkage Project grants associated with the School are:
1. Michael Ferry and Kevin Laws ,“ Reducing the environmental impact of passenger vehicles by the design of lightweight alloy components”, $420,000
2. Alan Crosky plus 4 UNSW CIs and 5 industry partners, “Avoiding catastrophic failure of cable bolts in underground mines”, $210,000
3. Aibing Yu and Xuchuan Jiang, “Development and Application of VO2-based Advanced Nanomaterials for Smart Window Coatings”, $690,000
4. Aibing Yu, “Development and application of a virtue experimental blast furnace”, $440,000
In addition to ARC funding, totaling $1,760,000, all Linkage grants will also attract significant financial support from industry.
ARC Future Fellowships were awarded to Dr Dewei Chu and Dr Claudio Cazorla.
Dewei Chu is well known in the School and has been working with Sean Li on functional materials for the past few years. Claudio is currently at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona, and has worked on mainly theoretical approaches to understanding the behaviour of device materials.
Both fellowships will bring considerable talents to the School.
