Professor Sean Li was awarded the 2016 UNSW Innovator of the Year Award for his development of graphene enhanced high performance electric power grid transmission lines. This Award celebrates the diversity and value of innovation originating from UNSW staff, alumni and students.
Dr Judy Hart was recognised at the end of 2016 for her outstanding teaching by being awarded the “Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence” in the “Contributions to Student Learning” category. The “Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching Excellence” is regarded as the top award for teaching and learning in the university and rightly places Dr Hart as one of the most outstanding teachers at UNSW.
Laureate Prof Veena Sahajwalla has been awarded the 2017 ‘Jubilee Professorship’ by the Indian Academy of Sciences. This is their most prestigious award. Veena is also the first woman to receive this award. Veena’s award is in recognition of her work in material recycling, in particular e-waste. Professor Kris Killen is joining the School under the new Scientia Fellowship program, shared with Chemistry. Prof Killen is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois. The Scientia Fellow scheme is “one of the cornerstones of the UNSW 2025 Strategy”. It aims to attract and retain the best and brightest people with outstanding research track records.
