Welcome from the HoS

The School has enjoyed a strong year as we move to the end of 2017. Nine staff were successful in academic promotion, which speaks strongly to their outstanding performance.
 
Our student numbers have increased by 15% across undergraduate, coursework postgraduate and research postgraduate cohorts. The School is now home to over 500 students. 
 
Staff and students in the School have received a range of awards and accolades.  Recent notable achievements include Professor Veena Sahajwalla being awarded the 'Plus Alliance Award for Research Innovation'
 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Alumni Profile: Dr Michael Lum, Materials and
Elastomer Development Manager, Weir Minerals 

Dr Lum shares with Materials News his journey of how he chose to
study Materials Engineering, his experience as a UNSW student
and how his career has evolved since completing a Ph.D majoring in materials Science in 2006.

2017 Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student
Learning.This is a national award from the Federal
Government that recognises the most outstanding
university teachers in the
country.

Research News:  Giant Effects in Fast-ion Conductors,
a Theory-driven Discovery

Recently, Dr. Claudio Cazorla and his reserch team have
predicted by means of state-of-art computer simulation
techniques that giant caloric effects may occur in fast-ion
conductors.
