This team of creative scientists and engineers is exploring new ways to develop applications of graphene and other 2D materials. Team leader A/Prof Rakesh Joshi is currently leading 5 industry-sponsored research projects on developing graphene-based products for industrial applications. A/Prof Joshi has more than $1.6 million of industry funding as Principal investigator (Lead Chief Investigator) and over $4 million as Chief Investigator (CI) on ARC projects. This team was the finalist (with Sydney Water) for NSW Water Award (Australian Water Association) in Research Excellence Category.

Major Industry Partners: Sydney WaterBaxter Healthcare and Vesi Water

Group Leader Rakesh Joshi is an Associate Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Before joining UNSW, Dr Joshi was a Marie Curie International Fellow with Nobel Laureate Sir Andre Geim at the University of Manchester. He has a PhD in Semiconductor Nanotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. Joshi is among a select group of researchers who have been awarded each of the world’s most prestigious relevant International Research Fellowships; the JSPS Invitation Fellowship, the Humboldt Fellowship and the Marie Curie International Fellowship
